In order for your vehicle to run, the parts in your engine create friction, which creates heat. However, the trick is that you don't want it to get too hot. With components such as the radiator, water pump, a cooling fan, a pressure cap, coolant fluid, and an overflow tank reservoir, these parts work together as a system to make sure that your engine cools down properly.
If something is wrong with your radiator or any of the other parts of your cooling system, the heat won't be able to properly escape, which can cause the engine to overheat. Signs of the engine overheating include the following:
- Steam coming from under the hood
- When the engine temperature gauge hits H or goes into red
- Strange smells around the engine
A sure way to ensure that this doesn't happen to you is to have your radiator and all other engine cooling components inspected and serviced regularly.
