1. Manual Transmission

This is a transmission system that is operated manually. It has an accelerator, a clutch pedal, and a brake pedal. The driver controls the changes in gear by pressing the clutch pedal and engaging the gear as required. Manual transmission requires high amount of skill to operate.

2. Automatic Transmission

This transmission system is automatically operated. It is simpler to use than the manual transmission. Here, there is no clutch pedal in use as the gearbox shifts automatically once the Drive option is selected.

3. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

This is more like the Automatic Transmission as it also does not have a clutch pedal. It is also simple to use as no major work is required from the driver while changing the gears.

4. Dual-Clutch Transmission

This is a compact size transmission that is very fast. It is commonly used in vehicles that require high performance as well as sports cars.
